David Laney

David started running cross country and track competitively at about age 9. After college, he decided to combine his love of the outdoors and love of running by doing a trail race.  After a few good performances, he was signed by the newly formed Nike Trail Team.

David won a US Championship at the Bandera 100K in 2015, and then went on to place 8th at the Western States 100 and 3rd at the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc.  At the end of 2015, David was named Ultrarunner of the Year by UltraRunning Magazine. In the last two years, David has finished two more UTMB races, placed 3rd at the North Face 50 Mile and spent 100's of hours running ridgelines in the Pacific Northwest.

David has a marathon personal best of 2:17:02 and qualified for the Olympic Marathon Trials in 2016. Along with running David enjoys hiking to cold alpine lakes for a swim.  His favorite quote is "When things are easy, I hate it" -Ernest Shackleton.
